Arts, Fabbing and Gaming
We are glad that you have arrived at this page in our site. Here we can loosen up the traditional austere nature of a business engineering related website and pursue something that the team at Protofacturing is intensively passionate about, 3D-ISM.
Now you are probably wondering to yourself what is 3D-ISM and did we not just make up a word? Well, yes, we have, but we think that 3D-ism perfectly describes a movement that combines technology and creativity (we could have used technitivity but that is lame and creatology sounds too much like a religious sect). 3D-ism is the pursuit of ones creativity in virtual or physical space with the use of any medium available. In our regard Michelangelo’s sculpture of David is as equal an example of 3D-ism as is a rendering of the same sculpture using 3D Studio Max. The difference is that using todays RP technology, we can create the physical statue without ever holding a hammer and chisel. We think Michelangelo would have been all over CAD software and RP if he were around today. He would be a 3D-ist. The crazy thing is that you can be a 3D-ist too.

What would you like to create today?
Avatar: If you are a gamer or if you chat, you probably have created an icon or a representation of your on-line personality. At Protofacturing we can take your Avatar and produce it into a physical model that you can put on your desk next to your computer. You can give an avatar as a gift to your friends and loved ones.
Game Developer: If you work in the multimedia gaming industry you spend all your day working in virtual worlds. You have at your fingertips all the software necessary to produce a 3D Model in full colour. Using 3DP technology we can quickly and inexpensively take your CAD data and print a colour model of your design. Ideal for use as a development tool that will help you to refine your design. A 3D model can be held in your hands and examined from all angles by members of your design team, commented on and reworked. A 3D model can be used in a presentation to a client or to the management team to help in the decision making process.
Sculpture: Send us your watertight creations in 3D Studio Max, Zbrush, Maya, Softimage and other CAD software and we can output your artistic design in any of our DDM materials. Our 3DP technology is the only RP technology that allows output in 4 colour process so there are no limitations to what you wish to design. Colour your design up because at Protofacturing we can output your model with your colour textures.
Robotics: If you are a professional in the robotics industry or just a home hobbyist, Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) technologies will allow you to produce one-off parts or short runs of pieces for building your designs. DDM covers all forms of rapid prototyping technologies. Call our staff today to discuss the best materials and technologies for producing your latest designs.
Toys: Using DDM technology we can create one-off or small production run toys and miniature models. If you are a railroad modeler or airplane modeler we can make custom parts for your collections, decorative or useable, we can suggest the right material for you.
Cinematography and Scenery: Protofacturing can produce one-off props for use in TV and filmmaking. Our 3DP technology is ideal for printing scale versions of scenery so that the scenists can refine their ideas and plan with the director for production.
At Protofacturing we have invested in technology that will facilitate your production of physical models from virtual art. If you are a professional artist, game designer or just a hobbyist working in 3D, you must strongly consider what 3D printing can do for you. Our rapid prototyping equipment will allow you to expand the possibilities of your passion for the creative arts. The ability to express yourself using 3DP is endless and we are only just scratching the surface of the possibilities. We are the giclée of today.
Are you ready to create? 3D-ism is the future of design. Call us today to find out more about these exciting new technologies.
